Background
DARG was formed in October 1994 by a small group of dedicated volunteers whose sole aim is to rescue homeless, abandoned, abused and traumatised domestic animals, to rehabilitate these animals where necessary and to place them with responsible, caring new owners. Since our operation commenced, we have successfully homed more than one thousand animals, including a piglet.

No-kill Policy
DARG are vehemently opposed to euthanasia for healthy stray or unclaimed animals. DARG believes that all animals have the right to food, shelter, a safe and caring environment, medical treatment and that they should be protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Events
Every Saturday morning, on Martin Bailey's "Morning Glory" show on Cape Talk radio, just after 8am, DARG has a 10 min talk slot. Tune in for the latest updates on what we are doing.

Every Sunday, DARG has an information stand and lots of beautiful, healthy animals on display for adoption at the Hout Bay craft market, between 12:00 and 15:00 pm.

Adoption Programme
DARG currently has over 100 dogs, 50 puppies and many beautiful cats and kittens looking for homes. DARG has strict rules for adoption: every home must be inspected and approved before adoption can take place. The prerequisite for a successful adoption is acceptance of the animal into the home as part of the family. Animals must be treated with love and respect to ensure the mutual satisfaction of adopter and adoptee.
